CÍRCULO DE CULTURAL TEATRAL / TEATRO EXPERIMENTAL DO PORTO

Teatro Experimental do Porto (TEP) is the oldest still active Portuguese professional theatre company. A forerunner of modern theatre, its first show premiered in 1953, under the artistic direction of António Pedro. Gonçalo Amorim, who had been the company’s in-house stage director since 2010, became its artistic director in 2012. Over the past 67 years, some of the most charismatic Portuguese cultural figures have worked at TEP, and works by the most important Portuguese and foreign playwrights were played at its stage. Financed by the Portuguese Government/Ministry of Culture/Direção-Geral das Artes and supported by the Porto City Council, it is one of the companies housed at Teatro Campo Alegre, within the scope of the Teatro em Campo Aberto programme.
